Term paper writing is your investigation of a topic, based on the known sources. You may use quotes and references on different sources. But you should develop your own ideas on the topic. It is your original creation.

Alton L. Raygor shares out six steps of term paper writing:

  1. Choosing a subject.
  2. Finding sources of materials.
  3. Gathering notes.
  4. Outlining a paper.
  5. Writing the first draft.
  6. Editing the paper.

This guide on writing a term paper is based on these six steps.

    1. Choosing a subject. Find a subject that is interesting for you. Term paper writing is a work on a particular topic. Do not generalize a question. Think about different sides of the question. What would you want to write about? Make an approximate plan of your term paper writing.
    2. Finding sources of materials. Examine sources in which your selected topic is raised. Pick up information that can be used as quotations. Take sources that are the most appropriate for your term paper writing.
    3. Gathering notes. Make notes of information that you picked up from different sources. Note references on each quote in writing a term paper.
    4. Outlining a paper. Compare your ideas about the question with those presented in books. Are they similar? What are the differences between your opinion and those of the authors of books? Analyze information that you have.
    5. Writing the first draft. State the thesis of your term paper writing. Formulate it in a sentence. What is the purpose of your research? Why have you chosen this topic? What main points do you want to develop?
    6. Editing the paper. At this stage you can revise and complete term paper writing.
